Frequently asked questions
What is Beat Cut?
A rhythm game where you cut on the beat across 16 beats at three tempos, scored from Intern up to Director's Cut. It uses a generated click track, so there is no music licensing involved and it loads instantly.
Does cutting on the beat actually matter in editing?
It matters for montage, music-led sequences and short-form, where a cut landing slightly off the beat reads as sloppy even to viewers who could not say why. It matters far less in dialogue or tutorial editing, where meaning sets the cut point rather than tempo.
Will this make me a better editor?
It trains one narrow reflex, which is timing accuracy. That is genuinely useful and genuinely small — it will not teach pacing, story or sound design. Treat it as a warm-up rather than a course.
Is it free, and does it work on a phone?
Yes, free with no sign-up, and it works on touch devices. It uses the Web Audio API for the click track, so your device needs sound enabled for the timing to be meaningful.
